SEX AND THE LIVING ROOM!

Yeah Yeah get your minds out of the gutter it is not what you think!

Last night I was thinking how I was not going to make the Saturday night Poker party with the fellas so I thought to myself ( Self...I should do a game night with the gals) So there it was.

Gabe took the kids for the evening and I had a Girls night IN!

My partners in crime that evening were Toni,Ally and Thelma..we lost Holly

I supplied the Lemon Drop Martini's
Ally supplied the awesome spinach dip and Guacamole and chips and a 3 lb bag of Gummy Bears!
and Thelma surprised everyone with a special little bag of Sees Chocolates

So during the Gab session amongst the gals I than realized I did not have a deck of cards that hadn't been thrown about by a 7 year old boy. Toni had also mentioned how she brought the Sex and the City movie which brought me to the most wonderful idea!

I ran to my bedroom and dusted off the Hot pink box that had tempted my game playing urges for so long. Tonight was the night, the most perfect night to Play Sex and the City Trivia. Since there was 4 of us gals we decided we would each be a character from the show. I ended up as Miranda. There was so many funny moments and full on laugh out loud rolling on the floor moments and a LOT of dirty talk and deep secrets.

We had played a few rounds of SATC and than in a drunken haze decided to be more active and played some Guesstures ( a charade game) we than all got to talking about how we need to make it a priority for us to get together.

AND JUST LIKE THAT it was set in stone that once a month we would do girls night out.

I was gonna blog about this last night but we didn't end the night till almost 2:30am!!

The Gals!

Our table was funny. Sex and the city,3lb bag of gummy bears
Unlit cigarettes for looks

Toni reading a card

We got a little crazy adding Gummy bears to our cocktails

Cheers!!

My birthday Present to myself

Well coming home from work today I saw an Estate Sale sign on the old craftsman's home 3 doors down from me. Being a big fan of Estate sales but never having the opportunity to go because I am usually working , Gabe and I decided to walk over there and take a look. The smell of dusty old linens and wood was abundant. The place was full of antique furniture, vintage Rhinestone jewelry, quilts, hobnail vases, French lady figurines, Ruffled lamps and a closet full of orthopedic sandals .
While walking around the house I felt like I was a kid again at Grandmas..and soon there it was..my flashback to being 4 years old ..the Black Forest wooden cuckoo clock in the long solemn hallway lined with aged floral wall papering. I pulled on the chain and moved the arms to 6pm and Cuckoo Cuckoo it went. I HAD TO HAVE IT!!

One thing I have always been attracted to ever since I was a small child was cuckoo clocks. I remember my grandmother had them and her mother had them and so on and so on since my grandmas family comes from Black Forest Germany, it is not unusual we would all have these
fascinations with them.
I have always wanted one but they are just so so expensive.

Well my birthday is just around the corner I so there it was..my birthday gift to myself.

Christmas Shopping..

So I have officially started my Xmas shopping today. I started online shopping and bought a whole bunch of items..I also got stuck on Etsy.com and ended up buying Ava a bunch of hair accessories, baby cuffs, shoes and some dollies.

Why do I have to be so addicted to shopping!! I am glad my husband pays all the rent and bills!!

I figure though all the stuff I got for Ava can be xmas presents.

I could not pass up this baby plush bunny..Just look at this face! How can you not get it.

Milestone fun

Ava has really enjoyed the act of rolling over. She did roll over a while ago twice but during tummy time today she was not having it laying on her belly. It was a bit of a struggle but she did it and came out a little crosseyed.

Election 2008!!

So I am looking forward to voting today. I am leaving work early to go and vote! I am a little undecided in who I am gonna vote for. I have pros and cons for both candidates. I think I know pretty sure who I am gonna vote for though. I also was reading over the pros and cons to all the propositions that are up and made notes for which ones I am voting yes or no on.
So Funny but Parker is all intrigued by the propositions going on. He always runs in from the other room when one of the commercials comes on and asks if he should vote yes or no on that number. I just tell him he can't vote anyway and to wait when he is older and he should not worry about it since he is a kid. I want him to make his own decisions and I don't want to influence him on what is right or wrong because I think it is so.
I just find it really strange though that he is so interested in laws all of a sudden he keeps asking about them and says it is fun learning about them..hmm maybe I have a politician on my hands..or maybe the future President!!

Birthday Wine Tasting

So my birthday is coming up and Gabe asked me what I wanted to do and I want to do the same thing I did last year...Wine Tasting in Solvang!! This time however I would like to get a group of friends to come out and enjoy wine tasting with us. I am just not sure what peoples plans are for the next coming weeks but it would be cool to have friends there.

I want to go November 15. I am thinking taking the 14Th off and being there for Friday and Saturday and coming home Sunday. I am thinking however of maybe the following weekend as well.I think Maybe driving to the vineyards on Saturday and then doing a nice dinner at the hitching post would be awesome. On Friday maybe hitting up some of the tasting rooms in Solvang.

I think I have a few friends that already said they would like to come out..now I just gotta get it organized. So any of my friends that are reading this blog think they can come out..email me!!
I know some good spots and can get some great deals!

More Day of the Dead Photos

So as requested I am posting up a few more pictures.
I have some of some alters, and artwork and of course the rest of my ghostly parade pictures..

In the planters outside people were making their own little tribute to a passed on love one and this one really grabbed me cause it reminds me of my chihuahua MILO who is still alive but looks a lot like this dog. They left him some Halloween candy and a few sugar skulls. What I don't have is the tribute right next to it which was a Elvis Presley Baseball card and a package of Reece's pieces Elvis promo peanut butter banana cups next to it.

This is a cool alter that was at the street fair inside the museum. Kinda blurry.

This was a interesting piece..it had a really heart grabbing poem next to it. It nearly brought me to tears. I wish I could had gotten a more detailed better shot.

For some reason inside this place everything came out hazy. The place was so filled with incense smoke it was like a fog in there.
Those are all made from paper mache!

These remind me of Blythe Doll Skulls.
I almost bought one and I think I should have of the same artist that did these photos. They had rag dolls with 60's hair dos with these type of faces. They were really cool...I bet I can find them on etsy.com (thee best site ever by the way!!)

AHH. The GOYA Mexican product name brand. They had a alter to the guy I guess GOYA himself. By the way..A little story..This was a big sponsor of the street fair and they had a booth with samples and Gabe and I walk over there and they give us this foam cup with this hot punch with a bunch of stewed fruit basically. It was the best thing I have had. OH MAN They said it is called Fruit Ponche . Anyway it comes in a bag and it looks like a bag of dried fruit with some cinnamon sticks and what not inside. I guess you add water and some sugar and boil the dried fruit and it becomes basically a hot cider but so much better than plain apple cider ..it was filled with all kinds of fruit and soo soo good. Anyway I can't find it anywhere!! I checked albertsons in the Mexican food isle.. nothing,Ralph's.. nothing, top value in the heavy Mexican area in long beach..nothing. I am dying to find this stuff for the holidays! They did say they sell it at food 4 less. I just have to find one in my neighborhood.

Some dancers at Olvera st. (which were moving around like crazy..now clear looking shot right)

Parker dancing to the music still

Ok Eric was behind me when I did this picture cause he had to see with his own eyes that none of the day of the dead parade peeps showed up in my photo. Now this one they were not even marching by they were in the middle lighting incense..the blank stuff in the middle is where the parade members were standing in. I get the photo of the people even on the other side..WTH??
Eric saw me hold the camera up and have them in my frame and snap the shot..nothing..

The parade..this one they actually stopped to let people take pictures

More parade..now click on this picture..you can almost see the people in the parade but why are they see through??? SOO Spooky...something does not want me to have these images..maybe my crappy camera...or is it ???
